UCSB’s International Gold Medallion Program
The University of California, Santa Barbara’s (UCSB) International Gold Medallion Program recognizes the outstanding academic achievements of international students. This prestigious program is designed to honor students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and who have made significant contributions to the university’s global community.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the International Gold Medallion, students must meet the following criteria:
* Be an international student (non-U.S. citizen or permanent resident)
* Have completed at least 90 quarter units at UCSB
* Have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher
* Have made substantial contributions to the international community at UCSB through leadership, service, or research
Benefits of the Program
Gold Medallion recipients are recognized with a special graduation medallion and a certificate of achievement. They are also invited to participate in a special ceremony honoring their accomplishments. Additionally, Gold Medallion recipients are given priority consideration for certain scholarships and fellowships, and they are eligible to apply for special study abroad programs.
Nomination Process
International students who meet the eligibility criteria are nominated for the International Gold Medallion by their faculty advisors or department chairs. Students may also self-nominate by submitting a portfolio of their academic accomplishments and contributions to the international community.
Evaluation Process
Nominations are reviewed by a committee of faculty and staff from UCSB’s Office of International Programs. The committee selects recipients based on the following criteria:
* Academic achievement
* Contributions to the international community
* Leadership and service
* Research and creative activities
